my Italian-inspired summer dinner party

Hi friends! I’m back with another hosting post. I have so much fun hosting, I love cooking, decorating my space and creating a theme.

Tonight I knew I really wanted to make Italian food and I had tons of fun decorating my space. In no way is this authentic at all, I was just having lots of fun with it.

First things first, the menu.

Everything I made for this evening was homemade. I had so much fun putting the menu together and I am so happy with how everything turned out. I made a risky decision and all of these recipes were new to me, but I will absolutely make every single one of them again.

Lavender Lemonade – I wanted to make a fun drink for the evening that wasn’t alcoholic so I went with a lavender lemonade. I made a homemade lavender simple syrup with 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup dried lavender.

This honestly may have been my favourite recipe of the evening!

Bruschetta – I used a Schars baguette, toasted it at 325 with a bit of olive oil and used this Bruschetta recipe for the topping without the parmesan because I didn’t have any.

Sundried Tomato Pesto Pasta – My friend Jessika shared this recipe on reels the other day and I instantly knew I needed to try it. It was so delicious!

Arugula Salad – I typically am not a big Arugula fan, but I recently bought some Burrata and this recipe just jumped out at me. I definitely am on the arugula bandwagon now, it was so simple but delicious.

Meringata – The recipe inspo that I used for this desert can be found here. I realized that I didn’t have the time to follow this recipe because it requires about 12 hours, however, I followed the instructions on how to make the meringue but made it in the shape of a pie crust. After it had cooled I made the shredded whipped filling and froze it. I would say this way the one recipe from last night that didn’t quite turn out how I was hoping. It ended up being a bit of a crumbly mess and the frozen whip wasn’t my favourite, I honestly might have liked it more had it not been frozen.

I kept the decor and outfit really simple, but it looked really pretty. The candle stick and candle stick holders were both DIYs. You can find the video on how to make the floral candle stick here.

Those were all the details from last night. I had such a great night with my girls and I am so excited for the next hosting night, I have a couple plans for the rest of the year that I’m looking forward to sharing with you!
