April 29th marked a year of weekly blogging for me and so as I continue with weekly blogging I’m going to share with you a few of the things I have learned from this experience & answer some questions I was asked on my insta story
What I learned:
Blogging was the first creative project I have ever done as a hobby. I have never considered myself a creative person before and wanted to challenge myself to work on that. Since starting this project I have found that it has inspired me to be more a creative person in all aspects of my life.
Starting this blog also pushed myself out of my comfort zone a lot, I was worried what people I knew would think when I found it, but I worked hard to push past that and continue doing it because it’s something I enjoyed. I have since been applying this in other aspects of my life, and worrying less about what other people’s opinions of me are and instead do things because I enjoy them and they are good for me.
Although it is something that I have always tried to apply to my life, this blog has held me accountable. I made a commitment to myself that I was going to post every week on Sunday, and aside from 2 or 3 posts that went up a day or so late I stuck to this. This was a challenge at times because sometimes I felt less inspired or didn’t know what to post about, but I always pushed myself to think of something.
This brings me to my next point. Blogging caused me to reflect on my life a lot. Whenever I was at a loss for what to post I thought about this different aspects of my life which were having the greatest influence on me at the time. For me this has included reflecting on goals, my current fitness plan as well as many others. I was able to write posts about how they were influenced me or how I want to grow in particular ways. I think this will be really nice for me to look back on later in life and watch as I have grown.
Q&A:
Q: What motivates you?
A: I think this depends on what aspect of my life the motivation is referring to but I would say that the generalized answer is the unknown potential of the future. I think it is really good to to work hard on something because you never know where that can take you. Another thing I like to think about is how accomplishing it makes me feel, in terms of fitness for example I know I always feel really good afterwards so I use that to motivate me.
Q: Are you in college?
A: Yes! I go to the University of Victoria in British Columbia
Q: Who inspires your fashion?
A: I actually have a whole post about the bloggers inspiring me this spring!! I’ll link it here
Q: What have you overcome this year?
A: This has been a big year for me, I have moved away from my parents for the first time in my life, I went off to a new school where I didn’t know anyone, and I had to spend a lot of time putting myself out there which was hard for me. I found myself in a lot of uncomfortable situations this year which I didn’t enjoy but overall I’ve learned so much from all of them and believe I’m a better person because of it!
Q: What are your favourite summer styles?
A: I’m usually a pretty simple gal, but I love a good pair of denim shorts & a graphic tee with sandals, or maxi dresses!!
Thank you so much for the questions & I hope you enjoyed! XO
