LESSONS FROM 2020 & GOAL SETTING FOR 2021

This past year REALLY tested me, as I’m sure it did for many of you as well. I truly think nothing has pushed me in life, like living alone during a pandemic, going into a lockdown & not being able to see anyone all while taking 7 university classes online. But as much as I hated the situation, it did teach me a lot.

I learned that putting too much on your plate to distract you from other things isn’t a good solution.

I learned that running & reading are the best escapes for myself personally.

I learned that hard work pays off.

I learned heartbreak hurts A LOT, but can also serve as a testament to how much love you can feel.

I learned the importance of calling up a friend, or sending a card & the impact it can make.

And finally, I learned that amidst chaos just pay attention to the things you actually have control over.

So with these things in mind here are some things I plan on working on in 2021…

Run a minimum of 75km a month

Work towards running my first 1/2 marathon

Pick up a book every single day, even if just for a few minutes

Read at least 20 books, including books I find challenging

Stick to monthly budgets & work on growing savings

Continue to upload weekly blog posts

+ a few others that are more personal…

I realize that “New Years Resolutions” can be controversial, I know that the year changing doesn’t change anything if you don’t change your habits. But with that said I think it’s also new and exciting. Every year I see January 1st as a refresh where I can check in with the habits that I think are important to myself & make sure they remain a priority.

I would love to hear what you are making a priority this year, if you feel like sharing! I think a lot of good will come in 2021 & I can’t wait to see where it takes everybody.
