REFLECTING ON JANUARY

As the first month of 2020 comes to a close, I’m taking the time to look back and reflect on the month. I’ve made a big shift lately to focus on making decisions that are best for me. Sometimes this means staying in on a Friday night when others are going out and other times it means doing things that push me outside my comfort zone. This is a mindset that I am really putting an emphasis on carrying into this year so I think it’s important to see how it is going a month in.

January.

To be completely honest this month hasn’t gone in the way I was anticipating. I have had to face changes that I wasn’t expecting, nor that I wanted to accept. Even to this day, feeling uneasy about things. I’ve had days where my heart just hurts. It’s a feeling that’s new to me and frankly just sucks. I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.

With pain, however, has come growth. Despite feeling immensely sad at times, I’ve also had some of my happiest moments this past month. I have been surrounded by people I love, which is truly the best feeling in life. I have focused on the present rather than living the past or trying to predict the future, feeling exceptionally grateful for the moments happening now. I have accepted that some days I just need to run it out, whereas other days tacos & margaritas are the way to go. Taking time to wallow but also knowing that I can still have great days.

In the past month, I have been on more runs then I went on during the entire second half of 2020 (70 km to be exact). I have focused on my health, feeling stronger than I have in years. I have spent time listening to podcasts and reading books that inspire me. I go into every day with a positive mindset, focusing on the things that make each day great.

Despite some heartbreak, this has such an incredible month. I have shown myself that I can be strong and I am excited to take that into the rest of 2020. We will continue to grow, surround ourselves with people we love & make new memories.

Here is to the next 11 months of a great year ladies!
